The Greater Bamboo Lemur

The Greater Bamboo Lemur, endemic to the island of Madagascar (Which we know through Alex - The Lion) is pushed to the verge of extinction. The present population is 94 and is fast reducing due to hunting for fur. It is not known how their metabolism deals with the cyanide found in the bamboo shoots which is their only food, their typical daily dose would be enough to kill humans.
